Paul Quinn Women’s Soccer Dominates Home Opener with 6–1 Win Over Jarvis Christian
Dallas, TX August 23, 2025 The Paul Quinn College women’s soccer team opened its 2025 season in emphatic fashion, defeating Jarvis Christian University 6–1 on Saturday afternoon in Dallas. Behind a clinical hat trick from forward Cora Hurst and a stifling defensive effort, the Lady Tigers set the tone early and never looked back.
First-Half Control
Paul Quinn wasted no time asserting themselves. Just five minutes into the match, Hurst broke through the Jarvis Christian back line and slotted home the opening goal unassisted. The Lady Tigers continued to pressure, and in the 12th minute, Simara Barton doubled the lead after a well-placed assist from Ashley Rosete.
By the 20th minute, Paul Quinn had full control. Mia Hawkins netted her first goal of the season on a solo effort, extending the lead to 3–0. Hawkins also contributed heavily in the midfield, setting up scoring chances throughout the match.
Second-Half Surge
Jarvis Christian came out aggressively after halftime, recording 12 second-half shots, but Paul Quinn's finishing proved decisive. Hurst struck again in the 50th minute, assisted by Hawkins, before Dulce Valdez made it 5–0 just two minutes later off a feed from Gabrielle Azevedo.
Hurst completed her hat trick in the 58th minute, once again capitalizing on a Hawkins assist to make it 6–0. Jarvis Christian finally broke through in the 82nd minute, when Abril Soto converted from close range on a pass from Valerie Morales, but it was too little, too late.

Despite conceding six goals, Jarvis Christian goalkeeper Victoria Alcantar kept her side competitive with nine saves, facing 17 shots on goal. On the opposite end, Paul Quinn's Fernanda Rosas was a steady presence, turning away nine of ten shots to secure the victory.
