Hicks’ 21 Lift Paul Quinn Past Huston-Tillotson in Double-OT Thriller
DALLAS — Jordan Hicks poured in a game-high 21 points to lead Paul Quinn to an 83-73 double-overtime victory over Huston-Tillotson on Saturday afternoon at 3837 Simpson Stuart Road.
Paul Quinn (6-7, 1-3) used a decisive 15-5 edge in the second overtime to pull away after the teams were deadlocked through regulation and the first extra session. The Tigers shot 55.0% in the second half and converted 83.3% of their free throws after intermission to fuel the comeback.
Hicks delivered his points off the bench, knocking down 6 of 13 shots and 4 of 9 from 3-point range while adding five assists in 35 minutes. Isaiah McCallum recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Mekhi Johnson controlled the glass with 18 rebounds to go with 12 points. John Harrison chipped in 13 points, while TJ Mitchell dished out 10 assists.
Huston-Tillotson (4-7, 0-4) was paced by Caleb Campbell, who finished with 16 points and seven assists. James Harrison added 10 points and seven assists, and Ja'Patrick Blackmon scored 14 off the bench. The Rams shot 63.6% from beyond the arc in the second half but struggled at the free-throw line, finishing 14 of 26 (53.8%) for the game.
