Paul Quinn Falls in Straight Sets to Texas A&M–Texarkana
Siloam Springs, Ark. August 23, 2025 Paul Quinn women’s volleyball dropped its second match of the weekend on Saturday morning, falling in three sets to Texas A&M–Texarkana (27–25, 25–14, 25–20) at Murray Sells Gymnasium.
The Tigers (1–2) battled hard in the opening frame, pushing the Eagles into extra points before dropping a tight 27–25 decision. Texarkana then controlled the second set with efficient hitting, and while Paul Quinn mounted a rally in the third, the Eagles closed out the sweep.
Paul Quinn Leaders
Junior middle blocker Makaila Piggee turned in one of the Tigers' strongest performances, hitting .417 with six kills and adding three blocks. Outside hitter Carrie Weston led the attack with five kills, while Jayden Jones and Jakayla Morrow chipped in four apiece.
Freshman outside hitter Laila Beck provided a balanced contribution with four kills, three blocks, and an ace, finishing with 7.5 points. Setter Spirit Phipps guided the offense with 17 assists and added seven digs, while libero Kaylin Chambers led the back row with a team-high 14 digs.
Serving was again a bright spot for Paul Quinn, as A'Niyah Harrison, Chambers, and Beck each tallied an ace.
Texarkana Leaders
The Eagles were powered by outside hitter Kaitlyn Cabral, who dominated with 18 kills on .342 hitting while also adding 12 digs. Middle blocker Macyen Doskocil was unstoppable at the net, recording nine kills on .600 hitting. Right side Paulina Dobreva chipped in 11 kills, while setter Ashley Rhame dished out 26 assists.
Texarkana out-hit Paul Quinn, .248 to .160, showing consistency across all three sets. Defensively, libero Lauren Herz anchored the Eagles with 21 digs.

Despite the loss, Paul Quinn showcased promising performances from its front line and back row defense, keeping rallies competitive. The Tigers will look to rebound as tournament play continues in Siloam Springs.
