October 18, 2025 The Paul Quinn College women’s volleyball team continued its strong conference play on Saturday afternoon, defeating Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) in straight sets (25–20, 25–19, 25–21) at The Castle. The victory lifted the Tigers to 14–12 overall and 6–3 in HBCUAC play, while SUNO fell to 5–14 and 2–8.
Tigers Control from Start to Finish
Paul Quinn controlled the tempo early and never looked back, hitting an efficient .244 as a team while limiting SUNO to just .139. The Tigers combined for 45 kills and 41 assists, displaying balanced offense and strong ball movement from start to finish.
Offensive Leaders
Junior outside hitter Jakayla Morrow and senior opposite Carrie Weston led the attack with 10 kills each, combining for 21 points. Morrow also added two blocks, while Weston provided consistent scoring opportunities throughout the match.
Freshman middle blocker Laila Beck was highly efficient at the net, hitting .385 with six kills, two block assists, and a service ace. Setter Spirit Phipps orchestrated the offense with 34 assists, adding 12 digs to record a strong double-double performance.

Paul Quinn's aggressive serving played a major role in the sweep, totaling eight aces. Ashely Sanchez (three aces) and Kristen Williams (two aces) kept SUNO off balance from the service line, while libero A'Niyah Harrison anchored the defense with 10 digs.At the net, the Tigers' blocking effort was steady, contributing seven total team blocks. Armoni Harris led the defensive charge with a match-high 16 digs, but the Knights couldn't find consistency on offense, committing 15 errors.
